One of my passions is working on projects that center queer food and their stories.
I’m a queer food anthropologist dedicated to exploring and amplifying queer/trans voices in food. From reporting on LGBTQIA+ restaurants and the state of the food and beverage industry for queer and trans communities to reimagining queer food curricula at a university level and advocating for greater representation in food media, I’m passionate about sharing stories, celebrating culture, and creating conversations that highlight queer and trans voices in food.
My graduate research at New York University explored how to build community for queer folks in food communities. After receiving my M.A., I co-founded a non-profit with a handful of queer folks, including current Executive Director and dear friend Vanessa Parish, called Queer Food Foundation, addressing the need for visibility with queer/trans folks in food and beverage.
I’ve been honored to speak on a variety of panels and events throughout the U.S. regarding queer/trans/LGBTQAI+ food for Penn State University, New York University, Food Cosmogonies Short Course (UK), and Catawba College, and my experiences as an industry expert in F&B have been shared on various podcasts, such as WNPR. More recently, I was thrilled to be selected, alongside two amazing colleagues, Ashley Scheideberg and Javonne Alonzo, to present at Boston University’s Queer Food Conference in April 2024 on Teaching Queer Food at a University Level where after, my colleagues and I announced the creation of a new Queer Food Journal, Pantry Magazine, with Issue 1 debuting Spring 2025.
If you have an idea or want to collaborate on a project, I’d love to chat.
